Out of Hand is an independently owned design, print, distribution and outdoor company based in Bristol and Edinburgh. Specialising in the arts, culture and music industry, we offer multiple services including printing and specialist finishing facilities, extensive flyer, poster and brochure distribution network targeting the 18-35yr audience and cultural community, printed and digital listings guides and a growing outdoor media network. We work with thousands of clients including multiple venue groups, record labels, promoters, agencies and artists across the UK and Europe. Through offering a one stop shop of services, we work extensively with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, providing extensive flyer and poster distribution, promotional print and outdoor advertising at the world’s largest arts festival.
The project is to supply, install, maintain & remove all the external advertising (posters & similar formats) for the Edinburgh festival fringe 2017. Last year there was over 7kms of posters throughout the entire city with more than 130 national and international clients, including some of the largest entertainment management companies and comedy promoters within the industry.
The role:
This is an excellent opportunity for anybody who is interested in project management or someone who is looking to gain experience within public relations, advertising, entertainment management/promotions or multi media.
Out of Hand is contracted to handle all aspects of the scheme from sales and accounts to production, build, install, maintenance and break down with regular meetings to be held to give progress updates with all stake holders to include Edinburgh council, the fringe society, clients/customer, venues, residents and business.
Working as an operations manager working under the direction of the Project Manager the ideal candidate will be required to have very good organisational, IT, administration, communication skills as well as having experiences of working with in the Festival environment or construction environment and related aspects of Health and Safety.

Key Responsibilities
• To manage the operations for all the outdoor advertising related to The Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Focusing on the staffing of a 24 hour a day 7 day a week operation in conjunction with the Project Manager.
• Undertake all the Risk assessments and Health and safety documentation relating to the structures and processes.
• Manage all the staffing and related shift patterns as the project progresses through its different stages.
• Ensure all client requirements are followed up, carrying out any actions as required.
• To adhere to all requests and amends made by the CEC, Fringe society and stake holders.
• To ensure that you are conversant with and have a working knowledge of Health and safety relating to manual handling, PPE, working in public places etc...
• Carryout daily reports with the Project manager and Commercial Director as well as a daily handover with the team leaders.

• A proven ability to run operation in and an efficient manner with very tight and set deadlines.
• Strong communication skills.
• Great presentation skills – verbal and written.
• An ability to build on and develop strong relationships.
• A working understanding of Health and Safety and conversant with the creation of Risk Assessments.
• An understanding and passion for the arts and youth culture.
• Ability to plan and manage a team’s workload and tasks.
• Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
• Understanding of outdoor advertising.
• Ability to multi task


• Prince 2 Qualification in Project management.
• Understanding of outdoor advertising.
• Experience of working in the arts and music industry.
• Experience working within the construction industry.
• Have attended and/or have a good understanding of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
