PQA Venues – Venue Team Members

PQA Venues @ Riddles Court are currently seeking Venue Team Members for this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

As a valuable member of the team, you will act as the principal point of contact to welcome our customers and play a key role in delivering excellent customer service.

Our ideal candidate will also have excellent communication and customer service skills, be courteous and have a friendly and enthusiastic manner. You will work as part of a team at our venue to ensure the comfort and safety of all our customers as well as monitor and maintain the premises and facilitate the smooth running of events.

Experience working in a customer orientated environment is essential and experience in cash handling, bar work and preparation of hot and cold beverages and good working knowledge of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 highly desirable. Experience in managing customer flow and queues for events would be preferred.

You must be available between the 30th and 27th of August and for training before this.

Rate: £7.50

In line with National Living Wage legislation, post holders age 25 and over will receive a higher rate.

Key Responsibilities:

• To ensure all customers are welcomed to PQA Venues @ Riddles Court and have a high standard of customer care at all times
• To work as part of a team to deliver the main roles of the Venue Team Members, working in all areas including front of house, bar, box office and venue safety and presentation.
• To assist customers with information and advice and ensure the smooth running of the venue
• To manage efficient and safe access and exit from all venue spaces, managing queues, and customer flow
• To deal with all ticket requirements & operations within the Box Office
• To maximise ticket sales by providing customers with any special information regarding their
chosen show or queries regarding any upcoming shows
• To be security conscious at all times and to report any suspicious packages/persons to the duty manager
• To have a full understanding of emergency procedures within PQA Venues @ Riddles Court
• To act as directed by the Duty/Venue Manager.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work as part of a team with excellent attention to detail and high organisational skills
• The ability to work under pressure while maintaining calm and efficient manner
• The ability to work under direct supervision and guidance of the Duty/Venue Manager and to show initiative and work independently when required
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet venue and customer deadlines
• Exemplary level of personal hygiene and standard of dress


Key Selection Criteria:

• Preferred experience in similar roles including bar, box office, and customer service environments
• Experience with providing a high level of customer service
• Has a high level of interpersonal skills
• Strong and proactive team player who is willing to be flexible with their time to meet the needs of the venue and our customers
• Confident manner with a pro-active approach to completing tasks in a timely manner
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet venue and customer deadlines with a flexible approach
