freelance Show operator for the John Rowe Show

at John Rowe (Anywhere)

I am looking for a show operator for my Ed Fringe show, The John Rowe Show, which has live music, silly segments and chat. Here are the requirements....

AUDIO: This is the most important technical element. There is no cueing required (all this is controlled from stage by us). It is much more a live mixing gig since we have 2 keyboards, guitar, several vocal mics (corded and wireless) and a pre-recorded accompaniment / click track (14 channels total). Front of house mix and some foldback monitor sends on both digital and analogue desks (different desk in each venue). Set up of monitors and DI's etc is part of the show set up and pull down each night.

VIDEO: There is some video in the show but the video is controlled from a laptop on stage, so nothing needed here except to include the audio output in the mix.

LIGHTING: A basic nice looking wash for the bulk of the show. No particular cues but ability to make subtle (or not so subtle as the case may be) changes to states "on the fly" by reading the mood of the given situation (these aren't rehearsed because the show is mostly spontaneous).

This would suit someone already living in Edinburgh or working at the Festival who would be happy to add another show to their daily roster of gigs. There is no accomodation or travel provided. Rate is negotiable depending on suitability.

Key skills and traits I'm looking for:
Fun / sense of humour
Experience with mixing live music and musicians essential
Problem solver
Can operate "in the moment" and "on the fly" in often unrehearsed or spontaneous situations
Previous Fringe experience an advantage.

Show is running at thespaceUK Symposium Hall Aug 2-17 in the 23:00-00:30 slot (23:15 showtime), and then at thespaceUK Surgeons' Hall Grand Theatre Aug 19-24 in the 21:45-23:15 slot (22:00 showtime). Tech days are Aug 1 (Symposium) and Aug 18 (Surgeons). Days off Wed 7 and Wed 14.

Please send a CV (with references) and some contact details.
