Experienced Finance Assistant wanted
at Assembly Festival in Edinburgh
Position: Finance Assistant
Contract term: 19th July – 11th September 2010
Assembly sets the standard for theatre, comedy and entertainment on the Fringe, by providing excellent work in temporary
theatre spaces in magnificent buildings such as the Assembly Rooms and Assembly Hall. In 2010, Assembly’s 30th year, the
Company will create for the Edinburgh Comedy Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe a magnificent programme drawn
from over 20 countries of around 100 shows in comedy, theatre, dance and music.
Specific responsibilities of this role are:
Purchase Ledger
• Allocate purchase orders
• Code invoices, seek authorisation and input into Sage
• File and maintain all purchase ledger records
• Generate payments
• Reconcile supplier statements and ledger
Sales Ledger
• Produce all sales invoices and credit notes as raised by department heads
• Post invoices onto Sage
• Provide credit control via telephone, email, fax or letter as appropriate and to alert bad payers to Finance Manager
• File and maintain all sales ledger records
Payroll
• Responsible for collating weekly timesheets
• Set up all new Festival employees
•Input timesheets onto Sage Payroll and run all relevant reports
General
• Assist the Finance Manager with duties as and when required
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills, experience and qualities:
Essential
Skills:
• To keep confidential the business of Assembly Theatre
• To keep confidential sensitive finance information
• Ability to prioritise, organise own workload and work effectively in a busy and demanding environment
• Excellent time management
• Ability to work occasional extra hours
• Highly self-motivated and able to find quick and effective solutions to practical problems
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with a range of people and environments
Experience:
• Experience of Sage Line 50 & Sage Payroll and Microsoft Excel are essential
• 2 years+ experience in a team within a theatre or similar arts/events environment
